FOR X ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF MOTORS
The Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) has adopted the international standard IEC 60034-30 Ed1.0 (2008): Efficiency classes of single-speed, three-phase, cage induction motors (IE-code) and published the SASO IEC 60034-30:2013 with regard to energy efficiency requirement s for electrical motors, the standard has entered into force at 1st of July, 2015.

All general purpose low-voltage mid-size motors (between 0.75 kW and 375 kW) shall comply by being greater than or equal to the SASO IEC 60034-30:2013 classification listed by the specified date.

SASO IEC 60034-30:2013 covers single-speed, three-phase, cage-induction stand-alone motors that:

- Have a rated voltage up to 1.000 V1
- Have a rated output power between 0.75 kW and 375 kW
- Have either 2,4 or 6 poles
- Are rated on the basis of either duty type s1 (continues duty) or s3 (intermittent periodic duty) with a rated cyclic duration factor of 80% or higher
- Are capable of operating direct on-line
- Are rated for operating conditions in accordance with IEC 60034-1, clause 62

- Motors made solely for converter operation in accordance with IEC 60034-25

- Motors completely integrated into a machine (for example pump, fan, and compressor) that cannot be tested separately from the machine

- Wholly immersed in a liquid (e.g. submergible motors)
- at a starting torque over 100% of the rated torque (e .g. gate motor & crane motor)
- With cooling from external equipment (e .g. Air over motors, or liquid cooling motors)
- In an enclosed container and part of an integrated system (e .g. canned motor)
- All electric motors under the scope of Saudi energy efficiency scheme shall have valid energy efficiency license prior to shipping.
- Registration applications submitted to SASO.
- SASO reviews the applications and issue the license for compliant models, license validity is one year.
- In order to comply with SASO energy efficiency requirements, the electric motor should comply with SASO IEC-60034-2-30 or other equivalent standards (e.g. NEMA).

- Each model should be registered and licensed separately with a separate application, and the same implies if there are different brands for the same model.

- Test Report according to SASO IEC 60034-2-1/2007 or any indirect method is acceptable, the validity of test report is six months from the date of testing.
